there’s an upcoming end of the world
(sure to dwarf all others)
a collapse of collapses
an apocalypse per se
slowly slowly
it comes
I scroll my mobile,
I ward off boredom
with another type of boredom
carefully curated and created
specially for me
I control myself
I could read a book
count the petals of a flower
(perhaps smell them too?)
I could light up a fire
hold my hands near it
at the spot where it’s hot
and the pain is slightly real
I could think of things which I could have thought
conjure up creatures and scars
swim away on a frozen pond
before we all e v a p or a t e . . .
there’s an upcoming end of the world
and when it shows its godly and wretched faced
I shall build that day
with bronze and clay
